Kolkata, Dec 5 (IANS) The gunning down of top Maoist leader Kishenji will not end the guerrilla movement but it is a setback for the rebels, West Bengal Governor M.K. Narayanan said here Monday.
‘The killing of one guerrilla will not end the movement…We hope it will be a setback for the movement. Wait and see,’ Narayanan, former national security adviser, said on the sidelines of a programme.
Officials said Kishenji, a politburo member of the outlawed Communist Party of India (Maoist), died in a gun battle with paramilitary forces and the state police in a forested region of West Bengal’s West Midnapore district. Maoists and human rights groups claim that he was killed in cold blood.
