Srinagar, Sep 29 (IANS) The gunfight between the security forces and the guerrillas in north Kashmir’s Kupwara district continued for the fourth day Thursday while another injured soldier died in a hospital, taking the toll to nine.

‘A jawan of the army who had been injured in the encounter between the militants and the security force in Kupwara district succumbed to injuries in the hospital Thursday,’ a senior police officer said here.

So far, five separatist guerrillas, an army lieutenant and a soldier, and two locals have died in the gunfight which is still continuing in the forest area where a group of heavily armed guerrillas was challenged by the security forces on Monday.
