Chennai, Aug 31 (IANS) The Tamil Nadu government Tuesday appointed Vigilance Commissioner and Commissioner of Administrative Reforms S. Malathi, IAS, as the new chief secretary.

The former home secretary of Tamil Nadu, Malathi will replace K.S. Sripathi, who retired Tuesday.

Malathi will continue to hold additional charge as Vigilance Commissioner and Commissioner of Administrative Reforms, the government has ordered.

The credit for becoming Tamil Nadu’s first woman chief secretary goes to Lakshmi Pranesh in 2002.
