Siliguri, Nov 30 (IANS) Accused of siphoning funds from the Siliguri Jalpaiguri Development Authority (SJDA) while its CEO, Godala Kiran Kumar, the district magistrate of West Bengal’s Malda district, was arrested Saturday, police said.
Confirming the arrest, Siliguri Police Commissioner K. Jayaraman said the official was presented before a court which sent him to police custody for four days.
During his tenure as the CEO of the SJDA from September 2011 to March 2013, Kiran Kumar has been accused of siphoning Rs.80 crore and is a prime accused in scam involving Rs.200 crore.
His arrest follows his seven-hour grilling Friday.
So far, 11 people have been arrested in connection with the scam.
