New Delhi, Jan 31 (IANS) Delhi Police Monday arrested a 21-year-old man on charges of murdering his associate over a financial dispute.
Jabbar Singh from Uttar Pradesh has been charged with murdering Ram Avtar (45), whose body was recovered from a junkyard in Okhla in south Delhi Jan 29, a police official said.
Avtar had injuries on the forehead and face and appeared to have been hit by some heavy object, said the official. He had been robbed of his money, watch and his mobile phone also.
‘Singh and Avtar, along with some others, had consumed alcohol Jan 28 night and the two had some dispute over certain financial dealings, which led to the murder,’ the official added, referring to the interrogation of others in the group.
Singh was traced to his native village through the call details on Avtar’s mobile phone, which he had taken. But the police could not find him there as he had left for Delhi again. Later, Singh was found hiding in Okhla area and was arrested Monday.
‘The man is aggressive by nature. He had studied up to 8th standard and was doing odd jobs in the capital for the past several years,’ added the official.
