New Delhi, Nov 19 (IANS) A routine check at a night shelter led Delhi Police to arrest a man involved in the murder of a 24-year-old who was stabbed to death over a love affair, officials said Tuesday.

Vishwajeet, 24, a night shelter caretaker, was killed by three of his friends Deepak Sharma, 23, Hamid, 24, and Noori, 25, in Shahjahanpur in Uttar Pradesh Nov 14.
“The accused threw the victim’s body on a railway track in Shahjahanpur after killing him. Uttar Pradesh Police recovered the victim’s body, chopped into several pieces, on the track Nov 16 and were finding out his details,” a police officer said.
The officer said Deepak Sharma was caught while checking a night shelter Tuesday morning.
“Sharma was found in a drunken state in the night shelter. When a police officer asked his name, he became frightened and said that he did not kill.
“We got the tip about a murder and he was taken to a police station where he confessed his crime, committed with the help of his two other friends,” said the officer.
Sharma told police that his friend Noori, Hamid and the victim were in love with the same woman.
“The woman first befriended Noori, and later Hamid, and for some months she developed a close relationship with Vishwajeet,” said the officer.
“After her friendship with Vishwajeet, the woman started ignoring Noori and Hamid,” he said.
Hamid and Noori along with Sharma, who already had a grudge with Vishwajeet, hatched a conspiracy against the victim.
They took him to Shahjahanpur and killed him. They later threw his body on a railway track to display it as a case of suicide, said the officer.
“A case of murder has been registered and a team sent to Shahjahanpur to arrest Noori and Hamid,” he said.
Noori and Hamid work in a bar situated in Delhi’s G.B. Road area. They had become friends with the victim around five months ago.
