New Delhi, June 1 (IANS) Despite his raising an alarm, a government contractor was robbed of his bag containing valuables worth Rs.1.5 lakh at one of the busiest metro stations in the capital, police said Wednesday.

‘Vijay Kumar, a resident of Prasad Nagar in central Delhi, was about to board a train at the Chandni Chowk Metro Station Monday when some unidentified attackers snatched his bag,’ Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police B.S. Gurjar told IANS.

According to Kumar, he raised an alarm and tried approaching the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) officials, but the accused fled from the spot. The bag contained Rs.60,000 in cash and some gold jewellery.

Police registered a case of snatching Wednesday.

Meanwhile, police said that Kumar has identified three people as seen in the recorded CCTV footage.

The incident, however, raises questions over the security issues in Delhi Metro as the incident took place in the presence of several CISF officials.

In a bid to nab the criminals, police have made CDs of the footage captured by the CCTV.

‘We have made CDs which have the faces of the assailants. The CD has been transferred to different police stations. The investigation is going on,’ added Gurjar.
