Shimla, Feb 9 (Inditop.com) Himachal Pradesh’s resort town Manali continued to be cut off from the rest of the country Tuesday due to massive landslides triggered by snow.
“Manali has been cut off from rest of the country since Monday evening due to heavy snow that triggered massive landslides on the roads leading to the town,” Sub Divisional Magistrate Rajeshwar Goel told Inditop over phone from Manali.
“Work is on to clear the landslides but continuing rain and snowfall are hampering the snow-clearing operations,” he said.
Goel said all tourists in Manali, about 300 km from here, were safe and would be allowed to move forward only after the road was cleared.
“Both the road stretches from Kullu – one from the Naggar side and the second the main national highway – have been blocked at various points,” the official said.
The weather bureau in Shimla said Manali and its nearby areas had received heavy snow from Sunday.
Manali is located on National Highway 22.
