Bhubaneswar, Dec 26 (IANS) The cold spell intensified in Odisha with the lowest temperature plunging to three degrees Celsius Wednesday in some parts, a Met official said.
Phulbani town in Kandhamal district, about 200 km from here, recorded a minimum of 3 degrees Celsius, the lowest temperature in the state, an official of the Bhubaneswar meteorological centre told IANS.
Mercury also dipped in district headquarters towns Sundergarh, Sambalpur, Keonjhar and Baripada and settled at 5.4, 7.8, 7.4 and 6.0 degrees Celsius, the official said.
The state capital Bhubaneswar and adjoining district’s headquarter town Cuttack however remained warmer recording minimum temperatures of 13.8 and 12.2 degrees Celsius, he said.
The official said the chill may continue over some parts during the next two days.
