Lucknow, April 30 (IANS) A 16-year-old girl was allegedly raped at gun point by the caretaker of a house owned by the Bahujan Samaj Party’s member of parliament from Lakhimpur Kheri, Uttar Pradesh Police officials said Monday.

According to the complaint by the girl’s father, she was returning home Saturday night after attending a wedding ceremony when the accused, also a minor, forced her at gun point inside the house in the town’s Shiv Colony and sexually assaulted her.
Police have filed the first information report (FIR) in the case and arrested the alleged attacker, whose name like the victim’s cannot be disclosed under law. The girl’s medical examination was being conducted, police said.
Bahujan Samaj Party MP Jugal Kishore has, however, denied the allegations.
Lakhimpur Kheri Superintendent of Police Rajendra Singh said since the rape accused, a Class 9 student, has been arrested, there was nothing much left in the case for the police to solve. He also claimed that both the boy and the girl had known each other and were in a relationship.
He said the parliamentarian was not connected to the incident.
The BSP leader said he did not know the boy. “Aap hi batayiye, kya 13 saal ka baccha hum ghar ki dekhbhaal ke liye rakhenge? (You tell me, will I keep a 13-year-old as a caretaker of my house?),” he asked.
Kishore accused “certain people” of hatching a “political conspiracy” to bring a bad name to him and his party. He said there was “no way” that the boy and the girl could be found in his house as it was locked.
His son, Saurabh Singh ‘Sonu’, said his father was being dragged into the controversy for no reasons. “We are being dragged into the whole issue for no reason…the alleged rapist and the victim have known each other for long,” he added.
