New Delhi, Nov 7 (IANS) Sunday morning began on a misty note in Delhi but it will get warmer during the day as US President Barack arrives in the national capital.
‘The minimum temperature recorded early Sunday was three degrees above average at 16.4 degrees Celsius. The slight rise in the mercury level is because of the increase in the pollution level after the Diwali celebrations,’ an official of the India Meteorological Department (IMD) said.
On Saturday, the Delhi Pollution Control Committee (DPCC) said in a statement: ‘Carbon monoxide and nitrogen oxide concentration have seen an increase during the week of Diwali in Delhi.’
The rise has been attributed to the increased use of firecrackers, besides the vehicular movement during the festive season.
‘The maximum temperature is expected to hover around 30 degrees Celsius,’ the met official added.
There will, however, be the usual nip in the air as dusk falls, he said.
