New Delhi, June 30 (Inditop.com) The national capital’s wait for the monsoon seems to be nearly over with the India Meteorological Department (IMD) predicting that Delhi will get rain within the next two days.

“The monsoon has reached the doorstep of the capital. We can expect rainfall in the region in the next one or two days,” Ajit Tyagi, IMD director general, told IANS.

After days of intense heat and humidity, the capital woke up to pre-monsoon showers Tuesday. The city received 6.8 mm of rainfall from Monday evening until early Tuesday.

While the humidity level shot up to 66 percent, the minimum temperature dipped to four degrees Celsius below the average at 25 degrees Celsius. The Met department predicted the maximum would hover around 35 degrees Celsius.

According to Tyagi, conditions are favourable for further advance of the southwest monsoon over some more parts of Rajasthan, remaining parts of Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand, entire Himachal Pradesh, and Jammu and Kashmir.

“Rain and thundershowers are expected at most places over east and west Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand and few places over rest of northwest region,” he said.
