Chandigarh, Aug 4 (IANS) Haryana received 4,472 milimetres (mm) more rain in July this year compared to the corresponding period in 2009.

A spokesman for the revenue department said Wednesday that the entire state got 15,006 mm rainfall during July this year.

Some districts, including Ambala, Kurukshetra, Kaithal, Sirsa and Yamunanagar, were lashed by heavy rainfall last month, causing flooding.

Ambala city, about 45 km from here, received 373 mm rainfall, Jagadhri 391 mm and Chhachrauli 561 mm in July last year.

Gurgaon, adjoining New Delhi, saw 417 mm rainfall compared to 223 mm in July 2009, Farukh Nagar 354 mm, Sohna 282 mm compared to 89 mm, he added.

But parts of the state like Bhiwani, Faridabad, Ballabhgarh and Palwal got less rainfall.
