New Delhi, July 3 (IANS) A 35-year-old woman committed suicide after allegedly killing her 6-year-old daughter in their rented north Delhi house, police said Sunday.
‘Pinky, a divorcee, was found hanging from the ceiling fan and her daughter was found dead on the bed in their house at Janata flats in Narela area,’ said a senior police officer.
The neighbours called police when after no response when they knocked on the door of the flat, which Pinky had rented a week ago. They also detected a foul smell, and called up the police control room early Sunday.
Police reached the house and broke open the door. ‘We found Pinky hanging from the ceiling and her daughter lying dead. It seems that the mother killed her daughter and then committed suicide,’ said the officer.
‘We found that a suicide note from the spot in which Pinky said she did not hold anyone responsible for her suicide. We are investigating into the matter and trying to ascertain the reason behind the extreme step,’ the officer said.
‘For now, there is no indication of foul play but we can only confirm it after the autopsy,’ the officer added.
