New Delhi, Aug 18 (IANS) Muggy in the morning, the capital witnessed a few spells of rain in parts of the city later Wednesday reviving traffic snarls. More rains are expected Thursday, the weatherman said.

‘The sky will remain cloudy and one or two spells of heavy rains or thundershowers are expected in some parts of the capital Thursday,’ an India Meteorological Department (IMD) official said.

According to the official, the maximum temperature recorded Wednesday was 34.6 degrees Celsius and minimum was 27 degrees Celsius, both one notch above average for this time of the season.

Following rain-spells, traffic snarls were reported from areas like Dhaula Kuan, Moti Bagh, Connaught Place and Raja Garden.

The humidity level oscillated between a high of 95 percent and low of 72 percent.

‘The maximum and minimum temperatures Thursday are likely to be around 33 degrees Celsius and 26 degrees, respectively,’ the official said.

The capital received 4.2 mm of rainfall from 8.30 a.m. till 5.30 p.m. Wednesday.

The total rainfall for the season till Wednesday 8.30 a.m. was 460.2 mm, nine percent more than average.
