Shimla, Dec 22 (IANS) A newly-elected Himachal Pradesh legislator, who was booked in a murder case, has been evading arrest, police said Saturday.

Ram Kumar Chaudhary, a first-time legislator of the Congress from Doon constituency in Solan district, is one of the four suspects in the murder of a 24-year-old woman in Panchkula in Haryana Nov 22.
Party leaders said Chaudhary had not attended the Congress Legislative Party meeting held in Shimla Saturday evening.
“Police teams of Haryana and Himachal Pradesh have conducted raids at a number of places but failed to arrest him. Raids are still on,” Baddi Superintendent of Police S. Arul told IANS.
Arul said arrest warrants against Chaudhary and three other accused were issued Friday.
The murdered woman’s father Butti Ram had lodged a police complaint alleging that Chaudhary was in touch with his daughter.
The Punjab and Haryana High Court Thursday directed Haryana Police to expedite the probe.
