Kolkata, Jan 1 (IANS) Internationally acclaimed artists are regaling the audiences here with an array of classical music in an ongoing festival, which will also see the participation of guitar legend and Grammy Award winner David Russell.

There are a total of 18 concerts by guitar, bandoneon, violin, viola, cello, sitar, harp and flute maestros from various nations in the week-long third Calcutta International Classical Guitar Festival that began Dec 28.
Artists from Italy, Spain, Bosnia, the US, China and India are taking part in the event. Russel will be the main attraction Jan 3, the concluding day.
Led by Russell, the fest introduces to the city a global line-up of artists like Paris Guitar Duo, Giampaolo Bandini, Cesare Chiacchiaretta, Bandini-Chiacchiaretta Duo, Yuan-Qing Yu and Civitas Ensemble.
Joining the melodious notes are Indian exponents Kala Ramnath, Shubhendra Rao and Pandit Debashish Bhattacharya.
“David Russell is the main attraction of the show, the star draw. Besides him, we have artists from all over the world,” said a representative of the festival.
Touted as a unique event of this genre in India, the fest is also organising six master classes by some of the international musicians.
“We have arranged for six seminar style public master classes by some of the artists,” said the representative.
