The Nepali drug trafficker, Om Gurung, 36, alias Kale was arrested Wednesday near North Delhi’s Kashmere Gate flyover where he had gone to deliver a consignment of seven kg opium to his local contact.
“This is one of the biggest catches of opium in Delhi in recent times,” said Additional Commissioner of Police (Crime Branch) Ravindra Yadav.
Gurung, who had been living in North Delhi’s Wazirabad, disclosed that he had brought this consignment from Nepal for delivery in the city.
Earlier also, he had handed over two such drug consignments to a local contact in Delhi, said the officer.
He told investigators that he procured the contraband from one Patel, a resident of Nepal, who met him near Anand Vihar Bus Terminal in east Delhi.
