New Delhi, Jan 2 (IANS) The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Sunday said it was insisting on a Joint Parliamentary Committee (JPC) probe into the 2G spectrum scam because past discussions in parliament have not yielded results.
Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha Sushma Swaraj tweeted that the ‘government has turned a blind eye and deaf ear’ as the common man is ‘suffering’ in India.
‘I would like to ask the government that we have discussed issue of price rise, not once, not twice, but 10 times during (the United Progressive Alliance) UPA rule. What is the outcome of those discussions,’ she asked on the micro blogging site.
‘The government blames (the) opposition for not discussing the issue of JPC in the house,’ she further wrote.
The BJP and other opposition parties, including the Left, have been demanding a JPC probe into the alleged irregularities in the allocation of second generation spectrum, but the government has ruled it out so far. The deadlock even forced the entire winter session of parliament to get washed out due to daily protests and slogan shouting in the two houses.
The opposition has threatened to stall proceedings in the crucial budget session in February.
