New Delhi, Dec 26 (Inditop) As Pakistan mobilized troops along the Line of Control in Jammu and Kashmir and the international border with India , Prime Minister Manmohan Singh Friday assessed the security situation and the preparedness of the armed forces at a high level meeting with the three service chiefs.
“The three service chiefs briefed the prime minister about the security scenario and the preparedness of the armed forces,” a senior defence official said, speaking on condition of anonymity.
The meeting of Indian Army Chief General Deepak Kapoor, Indian Navy Chief Admiral Sureesh Mehta and Indian Air Force chief Air Chief Marshal Fali H. Major took place at the Prime Minister’s Office.
The meeting has been convened at a time when Pakistan has mobilized troops on the border.
Last week, the prime minister had convened a meeting with Defence Minister A.K. Antony, External Affairs Minister Pranab Mukherjee, National Security Adviser M.K. Narayanan and the three service chiefs. During the three-hour meeting, conducted in the Indian Army’s War Room in South Block, the prime minister had evaluated the security preparedness across the country.
