New Delhi, Aug 2 (IANS) Home Secretary R.K. Singh Thursday called the serial low-intensity bomb blasts in Pune in Maharashtra as a planned and coordinated attack and said investigators were making progress.
“Since the blasts have taken place within an area of 500 metres and within a span of 45 minutes, it appears to be a coordinated act. I’m sure there was a plan behind it,” Singh told reporters.
He said investigators from key central agencies such as the National Investigation Agency (NIA), National Security Guard (NSG) and the Central Forensic Science Laboratory (CFSL) had reached Pune early morning for carrying out their probe and had examined the two unexploded Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs).
“There are three detonators in each (IED) and other peculiarities. Investigation is on. We are making progress,” he said.
Home Minister Sushilkumar Shinde no new update on the Pune serial blasts investigation was available. He had taken over as the country’s new home minister Wednesday and the Pune blasts took place within 12 hours of him assuming charge.
