New Delhi, Aug 30 (Inditop.com) Delhiites woke up Sunday to heavy rains lashing the national capital bringing welcome relief with a dip in temperature. The weatherman said more heavy thundershowers are expected throughout the day.

According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), Delhi received 19 mm of rainfall until 8.30 a.m. Sunday.

“We are expecting rain and thundershowers today across the capital, with heavy thundershowers in a few places,” an IMD official said.

The minimum temperature recorded early Sunday was one degree above the average, at 25.7 degrees Celsius, while the maximum is expected to hover around 32 degrees Celsius.

Despite it being a Sunday, rain slowed down the traffic, though thin, at places like ITO.

“Thank god it’s a Sunday and I can actually enjoy the rain with a cup of coffee sitting at home. Otherwise I would have been out there in my car, stuck in a heavy traffic jam and probably miss an appointment or a meeting,” said a relieved Radhika Sharma, a PR professional.
