Chandigarh, June 23 (IANS) There was no relief from the scorching heat in Chandigarh and surrounding areas Wednesday despite rains and thunderstorm a day earlier.
The city recorded a minimum temperature of 27.2 degrees Celsius Wednesday and a maximum of 39.2 degrees Tuesday – two degrees above average on both days.
The city received 3.8 millimetre rainfall Tuesday.
‘The rains did not bring any substantial relief from the heat,’ a Met official said. ‘We expect light to moderate rains and thunderstorm by the evening or at night.’
The thunderstorm uprooted many trees and disrupted power supply.
