Shillong, Feb 27 (IANS) A top rebel of the National Democratic Front of Bodoland (NDFB) involved in several bombings was arrested Sunday along the India-Bangladesh border in Meghalaya, an official said.

‘(Self-styled) Sergeant Major Anjima Boro was arrested this (Sunday) morning after he sneaked into the country from Bangladesh through Baldova village in West Garo Hills district,’ Border Security Force (BSF) spokesman Ravi Gandhi told IANS.

Boro, whose pseudonym is Ajit Murong or Ajit Boro, belongs to the anti-talk faction of the NDFB headed by jailed leader Ranjan Daimary.

‘It is a prize catch and he (Boro) is most wanted by Assam Police for his involvement in several killings and bombings,’ Gandhi said.

The rebel leader, who has been handed over to Meghalaya Police, is also the prime accused in the IED explosion that damaged the iron bridge at Zigzag in Meghalaya’s West Garo Hills district.
