New Delhi, April 30 (IANS) Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit Saturday said the government will provide Rs.2 lakh each to the families of the 10 shoe factory workers killed in a blaze in west Delhi earlier this week.

While expressing grief over the loss of lives in the shoe factory fire in Peeragarhi, Dikshit said: ‘The government will release an amount of Rs.2 lakh as ex-gratia to the family members of the victims.’

Dikshit was speaking at a function organised here on the eve of International Labour Day Sunday.

The fire at the factory in Udyog Nagar in Peeragarhi broke out at 7.10 p.m. Wednesday and took almost 12 hours to be extinguished.
