Kolkata, Dec 28 (IANS) Criticising Trinamool Congress leader and West Bengal minister Humayun Kabir for allegedly issuing death threats to an employee of a private firm, the Congress Friday demanded his resignation.

“The Trinamool Congress government should take against the minister and arrest him. Being a minister is he above law?” state Congress president Pradip Bhattacharya said here.
Senior Congress leaders will meet Governor M.K. Narayanan Saturday demanding action against Kabir, the state animal husbandry minister.
Santu Sinha, the manager of a Murshidabad-based firm owned by Congress leader and Minister of State for Railways Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury, Thursday registered a complaint with Rezinagar police station in Murshidabad district saying Kabir has given him death threats and used abusive language.
The minister, whose comments were aired by local television channels, however denied the allegations claiming it to be a conspiracy hatched by Chowdhury.
Incidentally Kabir was a Congress legislator from Rejinagar before he switched his allegiance to Trinamool Congress in November.
Congress leader and union Minister of State for Urban Development Deepa Dasmunsi flayed Kabir, saying “criminals and not politicians make such remarks” and asked Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee to discipline her party workers.
