New Delhi, Jan 10 (IANS) Lashkar-e-Toiba founder Hafiz Saeed had recently visited Pakistan-administered Kashmir for some discussions, Home Minister Sushilkumar Shinde said Thursday.
A day after India lodged a strong protest with Pakistan over the killing of two of its soldiers by Pakistani troops in Poonch district of Jammu and Kashmir, the minister said there has been information about Saeed’s presence in the region.
“(There) has been information that Saeed entered PoK (Pakistan-occupied Kashmir) area and had talked with some people,” Shinde told a press conference here.
However, he did not specify if Saeed was present in the area across Poonch district.
There have been reports that Saeed, wanted by India in connection with the Mumbai terror attack of 2008, was in the region a few days before Pakistani troops ambushed and killed two Indian soldiers.
