New Delhi, May 4 (Inditop) Monday late afternoon brought some relief for Delhiiites from the scorching heat of the last few days as some parts of the Capital had a passing shower along with hail.
Because of the rain, temperature slumped radically from 41 degrees celsius in the morning to 37 degrees C.
“The reason of this rain is a depression over Rajasthan which will continue on Tuesday as well,” a Met official at Safdarjung told Inditop.
It was a pleasant start to the week as temperatures Monday remained more or less average, without the scorching heat of the last few days.
Unlike the past week when the mercury touched a maximum of 44 degrees Celsius, a dust haze over the weekend which continued Monday ensured that the temperatures remained low.
The day temperature Monday touched 41 degrees Celsius which was two degrees above normal for this time of the year. Yet it was not unbearably hot.
“The dust storm and thunder storm which has been giving way to a drizzle in some parts of Delhi over the past two days, have kept the temperatures lowered. The weather will most likely remain the same over the next few days as well,” an official of the Safdarjung Met Department said.
Heaving a sigh of relief, student Angana Sharma said: “After a long time I mustered enough courage to step out of the house in the afternoon to catch up with my friend for lunch. The heat was tolerable, although travelling in an auto was still a pain. Yet it’s nothing like last week when I thought I would literally burn alive in the heat!”
The minimum temperature recorded early Monday was three notches above the average at 27.1 degrees Celsius.
