Bhubaneswar, Nov 1 (IANS) A team of Justice M.B. Shah Commission investigating mining illegalities in Odisha Thursday inspected some iron ore mines in the state, an official said.

The team led by bureaucrat U.V. Singh visited some iron ore mines in Joda area of mineral rich Keonjhar district, a senior official from state mines department told IANS.
They are also scheduled to visit some more iron ore and manganese mines in nearby Sundargarh district, he added.
The six-member team had immediately on arriving in state capital Bhubaneswar Wednesday proceeded to the Keonjhar district. The officials are expected to stay there till Nov 11.
During their stay, the team is expected to examine files related to mining activities besides visiting some mines.
Earlier, the team visited the state Oct 3 and examined files related to about 100 mines during a nine-day stay in Bhubaneswar.
The Justice M.B. Shah Commission, appointed by the union government in November 2010, has been investigating allegations of illegal mining in several mineral-rich states.
An eight-member commission visited some mining areas of the state in December last year.
The commission at that time said that it found evidence of illegalities which would not have been possible without the connivance of bureaucrats.
