New Delhi, Nov 1 (IANS) The Delhi High Court Tuesday reserved its order on a plea seeking a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) probe into the killing of 20-year-old engineering student Shobhit Modi May 5 near his house in south Delhi.
Suraj Modi, father of Shobhit, had sought a CBI probe into the murder, saying the police were handling the case in an ‘inefficient’ manner.
Justice Mukta Gupta said: ‘The order is reserved.’
The petition alleged that even after the lapse of several months, police were clueless and unable to crack the case.
Shobhit’s father earlier told the court that the family of his son’s lover might have been involved in the killing.
‘The girl’s parents were not happy with the love affair, so on many occasions they had made threatening calls to my son,’ Shobhit’s father told Justice Gupta.
Suraj Modi, who claimed he was threatened by politicians and others for trying to unravel the truth, said that investigators were biased and not probing the angle suggested by him.
Shobhit, a second-year Information Technology student at Manav Rachna International University in Faridabad and a former student of Delhi Public School, R.K. Puram, was stabbed to death near his home in Vasant Kunj’s C-block around 10 p.m. May 5.
