Bangalore, April 13 (Inditop.com) Overcast sky, cool breeze and showers in some parts late Monday and Tuesday evening brought relief to Bangaloreans hit hard by searing heat and frequent power cuts since mid-March.
The mercury hovered around 37 degree Celsius Monday, three degrees above normal, after shooting up to 37.6 degree Celsius Sunday, matching the record of the same day in 1983.
With the Met department predicting no relief, it was a pleasant surprise late Monday as skies opened up over the parched city. In some areas it was a heavy downpour while in most it was a brief drizzle.
But a cool breeze across the city made the night bearable.
The Met department Tuesday said it had recorded 21.8mm rain Monday night in the city.
The overnight rain and breeze brought the temperature Tuesday down to 35 degrees Celsius, normal for April month.
True to the Met department predictions of possible showers Tuesday, it started drizzling in several areas in the evening, with dark clouds raising hopes of heavy rains late Tuesday.
