Srinagar, Jan 31 (IANS) Moderate to heavy snowfall has been forecast in the Kashmir Valley and the Ladakh region in the first week of February.
A western disturbance is approaching Jammu and Kashmir and is likely to affect the state and adjoining areas from the evening of Feb 3 to Feb 7, a weather advisory by the meteorological office Tuesday said.
“Moderate to heavy snowfall is likely to occur in the Pir Panchal mountain range of the valley. Moderate snowfall is likely to occur in Drass, Kargil and Zanskar,” it said.
It is likely to disrupt surface and air transport. The day temperatures will fall by five to six degrees while the night temperatures will rise by two to three degrees during this period, the advisory added.
Met office director Sonam Lotus said light to moderate snowfall was likely to occur in Srinagar also during the period.
