New Delhi, Aug 30 (IANS) A Terror Funding and Fake Currency (TFFC) cell has been set up in the National Investigation Agency (NIA), parliament was told Tuesday.

This has been done ‘to focus on terror funding and fake currency cases’, Minister of State for Home Affairs M. Ramachandran told the Lok Sabha.

The NIA has been empowered by NIA Act to investigate and prosecute such cases, he added.

The minister was replying to a question if flow of foreign funds to terrorists in Jammu and Kashmir had been reported.

Ramachandran said that 43 cases of terrorist funding had been registered since 2009 by various state and central police investigation agencies.
