New Delhi, Aug 7 (IANS) It was a hot and humid day for residents of the national capital Saturday in the absence of rains, but some respite is likely Sunday with showers predicted.

The maximum and minimum temperatures settled at 35.8 degrees Celsius and 28.6 degrees, respectively, hovering two notches above normal for this time of the season, an official of the India Meteorological Department said.

There was no rainfall in the city.

There will generally be a partly cloudy sky till Sunday night with rains or thundershowers likely in some areas, according to a Met forecast.

The humidity level oscillated between a high of 91 percent and a low of 60 percent.

The Met office said while the maximum temperature will be 36 degrees Celsius Sunday, the minimum will hover around 27 degrees.

The total recorded rain for this season till Saturday morning was 320 mm.
