Gurdaspur (Punjab), Sep 15 (IANS) A sleeper cell of terrorist organization Khalistan Liberation Force (KLF) was busted in this border district of Punjab Sunday, police said.

Gurdaspur district police chief Sukhwant Singh Gill said that with the busting of the KLF sleeper cell, a major attempt to revive terrorism in Punjab had been foiled.
He said three people had been arrested and sophisticated weapons, including an AK-47 rifle, and foreign-made small arms were recovered from them.
The Fategarh Sahib district police had last week busted another cell that was trying to revive terrorism in the state. A total of 14 people were arrested by them and arms and ammunition recovered.
Gill said intelligence reports had suggested that the newly-recruited sleeper cell members had been tasked by terrorist leaders located abroad for targeting a Pathankot-based Shiv Sena leader to ignite communal passions in Punjab.
