Pilibhit, May 4 (Inditop.com) An adult tigress killed a man in the Deuria forest reserve of Uttar Pradesh’s Pilibhit district, a forest official said Tuesday.
“The partially-eaten body of a middle-aged man was recovered Tuesday. A tigress’ pugmarks were found at the spot,” the state’s deputy divisional forest officer S.R. Singh told reporters in Pilibhit, about 250 km from Lucknow.
Gokarn Prasad, a resident of Simiria village of the district, Monday afternoon went missing after leaving his place to collect firewood.
The incident triggered panic among the villagers who alleged that the tigress attacked Prasad outside the forest area. They now prefer to remain in groups outside their houses.
“We will provide necessary compensation to the family of the deceased. A team of forest officials is also camping in the village to allay the fear of the locals,” Singh said.
