The following is the timeline of the sensational campus crime Wednesday in Delhi’s Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) where an obsessive lover drank poison and slashed a girl.

*11.00 a.m. – Akash, 23, calmly walks into a classroom armed with an axe and a pistol in between two classes when not many students are present.
*11.02 a.m. – He screams at Roshni, 22, and asks her to accompany him. The girl refuses. An incensed Akash tries to fire at her with the locally-assembled pistol but it doesn’t work. He then drinks poison and pounces on her with the axe, hitting her five times on the head.
Before her stunned classmates could react, he takes out his knife and slashes his own neck.
*11.20 a.m. – A call is made to the police control room by the university administration.
*11.30 a.m. – Both Akash and Roshni are taken to All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) trauma centre.
*12.15 p.m. – Roshni is shifted to Safdarjung Hospital.
*1.15 p.m. – Akash breathes his last in AIIMS.
*4.30 p.m. – Roshni undergoes operation, continues to remain critical.
