New Delhi, June 5 (IANS) Traces of rain were recorded in some parts of Delhi Saturday evening as a dust haze during the day shielded the city from the sun and a cool breeze pulled down the maximum temperature, promising a pleasant weekend.
According the India Meteorological Department (IMD), the capital Saturday recorded a maximum temperature of 36.6 degrees Celsius, four degrees below the average. The maximum temperature recorded Friday was 39 degrees Celsius.
‘The temperature is down as the dust haze has become a barrier for the sunlight,’ an IMD official told IANS.
The last time when the maximum temperature was recorded at 36 degrees Celsius on June 5 was in 2006. After that, it has always been hovering around 40 degrees Celsius on this date.
‘The dip in the temperature and the cool breeze is because of rain in some parts of Himachal Pradesh and Jammu and Kashmir,’ the official added.
The minimum temperature Saturday was recorded at one degree below the average at 26.6 degrees Celsius.
The humidity recorded Saturday was 52 percent.
Met officials said similar conditions would prevail Sunday. ‘The sky will be partly cloudy with possibility of dust or thunderstorm, rain and squall,’ the official said.
