Hyderabad, Feb 28 (IANS) At least two students killed and 10 others went missing after a school bus fell into a canal in Andhra Pradesh’s East Godavari district Tuesday, police said.
The rescue workers recovered two bodies while search was on for others even after darkness. The local people saved 20 children.
The bus carrying the students of a private school fell into the irrigation canal at G. Peddapudi in P. Gannavarm mandal near the port city of Kakinada in East Godavari district, about 500 km from Hyderabad.
According to eyewitnesses, the accident was allegedly caused by over-speeding, but the bus driver managed to escape.
There was utter confusion over the number of students travelling in the bus.
Anxious parents and other relatives rushed to the scene.
