Jaipur, July 6 (IANS) A 62-year old US citizen with an Indian name was found dead in a hotel room here Friday, police said.

Police say there is a possibility that the man may have died after consuming a poisonous substance.
The deceased, Giridas Rama, was a resident of Honolulu in Hawaii. According to police, the dead man’s visa documents mention the place of birth as Texas.
“Rama was staying in a low-budget hotel situated on Sundar Path in the city since October last year paying Rs 300 per day as room rent. He had to take the help of hotel staff to move around as he was physically challenged. He had grown a beard like a Hindu monk,” said Inspector Manoj Kumar Gupta.
The hotel staff found him lying unconscious and frothing at the mouth Friday morning following which they informed the police.
“During preliminary investigations, the possibility of this being a suicide has emerged. The possibility of an overdose of some medicines he was taking is also not being ruled out,” said the officer.
“It seems he had adopted a Hindu name due to some spiritual influences. He was seeing a doctor here regularly,” the officer added.
The police have informed the US Embassy in New Delhi about the death.
“We have put the body in Sawai Man Singh Hospital here until we get a response from the embassy,” said the officer.
