Guna (Madhya Pradesh), June 30 (IANS) Congress general secretary Digvijay Singh Thursday said Gandhian Anna Hazare should first seek public support before going on hunger strike Aug 16.
Digvijay Singh also said it was his ‘personal wish’ that fellow Congress general secretary and Congress president Sonia Gandhi’s son Rahul becomes India’s prime minister.
Digvijay Singh told reporters: ‘Anna’s decision to go on hunger strike is okay but it should be remembered that during the freedom struggle whenever Mahatma Gandhi staged a fast, he undertook an agitation before it.
‘The same should be followed by Anna,’ he said.
Hazare, who fasted for five days in New Delhi in April seeking a strong anti-courruption bill, has vowed to go on hunger strike Aug 16 over the same issue.
