Meerut, March 28 (IANS) A 35-year-old woman, mother of two, was arrested here Wednesday for allegedly killing her drunkard husband and burying him within the house.
The woman battered husband Rajender Patel to death, then dug a 4 by 8 feet ‘grave’ within the house and buried man in it late Tuesday.
Admitting she killed him, the woman told horrified police officials that she was sick of being beaten up by her husband. So she decided to do away with him.
‘When he was asleep last night, I smashed his head with a stone and kept beating him till he was dead,’ police quoted her as saying.
The gory incident came to light when the routine brawls in the house fell silent. Neighbours feared something was amiss.
When police reached their Ganganagar home Wednesday, they saw ‘fresh tiling’ in the bed room and decided to dig it open.
The police were in for a shock when they found a body inside the floor, carefully wrapped in polythene sheets and salt sprinkled over it.
‘The woman apparently wanted the body to melt within the grave and thought nobody would come to know of it,’ a police official told IANS.
He added that they were exploring angles on involvement of others in the crime ‘as it is unlikely she alone committed such a meticulously planned act’.
