New Delhi, Sep 29 (IANS) The Zambian boxing squad, which is here to participate in the Commonwealth Games, is expecting a strong competition and looking forward to putting up a good show.

‘Our boxers have worked very hard for Commonwealth Games. Our four-hour training schedule focuses on endurance, training, tactics and mock bouts,’ Zambian coach Wisdom Mudenda said Wednesday.

Talking about their medal hopes, Mudenda said: ‘I am hopeful that Brian Mwabu (52 kg) and Martin Chibela (60 kg) will play their best. Indian boxers are in good shape and we are looking forward to put our best against toughest competitors across categories.’

Mudenda said that besides India, Ghana could also offer a strong challenge to them.

‘I am hopeful that young Zambian boxer Christopher Katanga (49 kg) will come up with some surprise in the competition. Godfrey Mumba, world championship qualifier in the 69 kg, is also optimistic of a good show,’ said Mudenda.

Zambian coach was also full of praise for the CWG Village.

‘Earlier we were little worried about the preparations till we landed here. But now we are extremely delighted to see the arrangements made for the international athletes, especially the dining area and the training facilities are outstanding,’ said Mudenda.

‘I believe that India is ready to host the Commonwealth Games 2010 Delhi and I am sure that we will have a memorable experience.’ he added.
