Islamabad, July 4 (Xinhua) Twelve militants were killed Saturday after security forces bombed their hideouts in northwest Pakistan, TV reports said.

Combat helicopters and fighter jets of the security forces have destroyed three militants’ hideouts in the Orakzai tribal agency near the Afghan border, reports said.

In a separate incident, 12 pro-government tribal militias, known as Lashkars, and three militants were killed in fighting in Mohmand tribal agency in northwest Pakistan.

Islamabad has encouraged the local tribesmen to set up militia groups in the border areas to flush out the Taliban militants.
