Islamabad, Dec 2 (Inditop.com) A guard was killed and three people were injured Wednesday when a suicide bomber struck at the heavily fortified Naval Headquarters in the Pakistani capital.

The suicide bomber, who was on foot, blew himself up at about 1.30 p.m. when Navy guards stopped him at the entrance of the complex, Geo News quoted sources as saying.

Islamabad’s civil administrator Fazeel Asghar told reporters that the blast killed one navy guard, who had asked the teenage attacker to remove his coat and prove his identity. Three people were injured.

Xinhua news agency quoted eyewitnesses as saying that the suicide bomber was a teenager.

The blast shattered windows of buildings and vehicles nearby.

Pakistan has been struck by a series of terror attacks since Oct 5, when the latest wave of violence was unleashed by the Taliban which is battling the army in the rugged terrain of South Waziristan.

Wednesday’s attack was far less severe than the one Oct 10 when 10 terrorists in military uniform laid siege to the Pakistani Army’s General Headquarters. That attack left 19 people dead.

Over 250 people have been killed in a spate of terror attacks in various parts of the country since Oct 5.
