Islamabad, Dec 12 (Inditop) Pakistan will not hand over any of its nationals to India or to any other country in the wake of the Mumbai attacks, the government said Friday.This was decided at a meeting of President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani here Friday, Geo TV reported.
According to a government statement, the president and prime minister exchanged views on the current situation in the country. Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Sherry Rehman was also present at the meeting.
Sources in the presidency told Geo News that matters concerning Pakistan-India tensions, action against banned outfits and its possible reaction came under discussion at the meeting besides the overall situation in the country.
Both leaders agreed that Pakistan will take action against the militants according to the laws of the country.
Pakistan itself has been a target of terrorism and, therefore, any of its actions is not being taken under any kind of pressure, they said.
The meeting also decided to intensify security across the country in view of any reaction to the recent action by the government against banned outfits.
The government cracked down on the Jamaat-ud-Dawa, the front organisation of the terror outfit Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT), after the UN listed is as a terror outfit. India says the LeT and its associates are behind the Mumbai attacks in which 179 people were killed.
India has handed over to Pakistan a list of 40 fugitives, including LeT leaders, who it says have been behind terror attacks in India and have taken shelter inside Pakistan.
