Lucknow, Feb 24 (Inditop.com) The Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) Wednesday issued a chargesheet to S.R. Siras, a teacher with the varsity’s department of Modern Indian Languages, who was suspended Feb 9 on the ground of prima facie case of gross misconduct.
The suspended teacher has been asked to submit a reply within 10 days. Siras will be given a fair chance to respond. If the reply satisfies the AMU authorities, the matter will be closed, failing which an enquiry committee will be set up as per the university procedures, said a press release issued Wednesday.
The university further clarified that it was not a party to any alleged sting operation, neither had it commissioned camera team for any kind of operation and nor it will be carrying on any such camera recording in its campus apartments in future.
“The university respects the privacy of a teacher living in its premises but it also expects everyone to behave in a respectful manner giving due regard to its valued cultural ethos and the campus sensitivity, including their neighbours’ concerns and to the great moral credentials that AMU has been nurturing since its inception,” the release added.
Siras was allegedly filmed having consensual gay sex with a local rickshaw puller. When the matter was brought to the notice of the college authorities, he was suspended Feb 9.
