New Delhi, April 22 (Inditop.com) Waterless urinals for urine harvesting, solar energy-based cooling system and around 300 other innovative research projects being pursued at the Indian Institute of Technology-Delhi (IIT-D) would be showcased to the public on its annual open house Saturday.
I2Tech 2010 – the sixth open house of IIT-D – will feature the latest research projects, a special showcasing of the institute’s laboratories and an interaction with industry.
“I2Tech has been proving its worthiness by exhibiting world class projects at the event,” IIT-D director Surendra Prasad said.
Some of the key projects to be showcased this year will include a waterless urinal urine harvesting system, Gramin (rural) radio inter-networking system, geo-spatial infrastructure for water resource management, and a solar energy-based cooling system.
“Every year we organize this event with a lot of zeal and zest aimed at creating an interactive platform for the IIT-Delhi fraternity, giving them an opportunity to showcase the best of their work,” Prasad added.
“We would like to make one day in the year where all the technology enthusiasts in Delhi can come and see the latest innovations at IIT. Like a book lover goes to a book fair, technology lovers should come here,” IIT-D’s deputy director (faculty) M. Balakrishnan said.
This year, I2Tech will also feature an industry interaction with experts from the automobile industry.
Around 3,000 students and technology enthusiasts are expected to attend the event. “We are expecting around 3,000 people to attend this event, and most of them are expected to be school children,” an IIT-D official said.
