Bhubaneswar, Aug 22 (Inditop.com) The Utkal University campus here was shut following clashes between two groups of students, police said Saturday. The clash was over students union elections, about a month away.
At least two students were injured in the clash that erupted Friday night, forcing authorities to deploy more than 200 policemen in and around the Vani Vihar campus, inspector in charge of the police station J.K. Das told Inditop.
“Tension is running high. The university authorities have asked students to vacate the campus at the earliest. We have detained at least seven students for questioning,” he added.
The Utkal University was established in 1943.
