Mumbai, March 5 (IANS) Designer Rocky S will open the five day Lakme Fashion Week which will begin here later Friday.
“I am very excited that I am opening Lakme Fashion Week. I am showing my summer line. It’s a traditional Indian line, mostly aimed at a younger crowd with softer designs. The colours are very soft. There are ivories, corals in the design, the cuts are softer, the fabrics are much cooler for the summer. There is very little embellishment but in the right place, at the right time,” Rocky told IANS.
The designer is excited about being a part of the event and showcasing his work along with other big designers.
“Well, it’s great to get all the designers together, great parties, great fashion forecast and great energy,” said Rocky.
Asked about his showstopper, he said: “You have to be there to see it.”
Rocky is very passionate about his collection.
“It took me a long time to make this collection because they are traditional so a lot of handwork is there, which I had to put together. One hundred and fifty people have been working for three months to put this collection together. It is very important to me because lots of passion has gone inside,” said Rocky.
Rocky maintains that since many foreign brands are coming to India, designers here should hold on to their tradition.
“I think right now, lots of international brands are coming to India. What we require is for Indian designers to hold on to their tradition and that’s what I really want to portray. I am a designer and a creative person who can go into the western and Indian market and that’s what I am showing,” said Rocky.
Asked about the Bollywood turnover he is expecting, the designer said: “I have invited many of my friends, but it’s a show for buyers and the media.”
